Not only did she assist in freeing her lover from the clutches of the SD-Weteringschans prison in Amsterdam, but she also collaborated with like-minded Leiden citizens to establish a clandestine refuge for children near the tranquil Witte Singel canal. These courageous and covert actions, largely unknown to most, became the pillars of our cherished freedom.
