These images do not take place in the real world but in a parallel, claustrophobic universe with only two dimensions. It is not just about a man and a woman, but about multiplicity, duplication, and replication. It is about the thoughts swirling inside the mind, rather than the physical presence of a head. This series evokes a silent choreography of emotions, perhaps capturing the body language of desire and the whispering confusion of the human experience.

About the Photographer

Martijn Doolaard (1966, Assenede) graduated from the Photography program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sint-Niklaas. He has since established himself as an autonomous photographer, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His work has been showcased at renowned photography festivals such as Breda, Naarden, and Antwerpen, as well as at various galleries and events. Doolaard's captivating images can be found in prestigious collections and have been featured in several publications. Prior to MOVED, he has published acclaimed books such as 'In plaats van bloemen', 'Black Celebration', and 'Crime Passionnel'.
